Theres still time....

to enter the Embossing Challenge over at the 'Cupboard'

This can be Dry Embossing, using a die cut machine or a light box
Heat Embossing, embossing powder & heat gun.

You can also buy pre embossed cardstock or even improvise by creating your own embossed effect, like a couple of the DT members have done.

The digi scrappers have joined in by using the embossing tool

A while back, years ago in fact (eek!), I attended a retreat and in one of the classes, taught by the wonderfully talented Vanessa Feuillade, we learnt all about embossing with UTEE.

Its amazing the effects you can get.  So recently, inspired by the challenge, Ive been having a play and trying to re-aquaint myself with some of the ideas and techniques we were taught.

Whilst my project doesnt fit the criteria for the challenge (card making, scrapbooking and digi scrapbooking) I thought Id still share.

My very own necklace, made from some slate (from the garden, washed of course lol), some Pearl-ex powders, UTEE and a heat gun.

I love the effect and it looks so pretty on...so much so that Ive made a couple using different colourways of Pearl-ex.

To attach the stone, I used a black leather thong from another necklace, think I would have preferred brown but hey!....waste not!....want not!

  1. Wow! I love this necklace ... I really must give this a try sometime ... how did you make the hole in the slate without breaking it?
